Domain Registration Terms

Scope

These domain registration terms apply to domain name registrations, transfers, renewals, do-not-renew requests, DNS settings, and contact profiles that SiteServer requests or manages for a customer.

These terms supplement the quotation, agreement, general arrangements, and applicable registry or registrar terms. Mandatory law and the terms of the competent registry or registrar prevail where there is a conflict.

SiteServer's role

SiteServer is not a registry. SiteServer registers and manages domain names through a registrar route or another authorized registration chain for the selected extension.

The customer or the organization provided by the customer is the intended registrant, unless agreed otherwise in writing. SiteServer does not register domains in its own name to become the owner of the domain name.

Requests and availability

An availability check is informational. A domain name is registered or transferred only once the registry or registrar has confirmed the request.

A request may be rejected, delayed, or reversed by the registry, registrar, or a competent authority. Reasons may include incorrect data, technical requirements, sanctions rules, premium pricing, trademark or name disputes, or registry policy.

Registrant data

The customer must provide accurate, complete, and current registrant, administrative, and technical contact details. Changes to name, address, email address, Chamber of Commerce data, or other relevant data must be reported to SiteServer on time.

For .nl domains, the SIDN terms for .nl domain name holders apply. SIDN notes that registrant data and reachable contact details are important and that .nl domains require a residential or office address, not a post office box.

Incorrect or outdated registration data may lead to delay, suspension, loss of management rights, disputes, or termination of the domain name.

Registry and registrar terms

Each domain extension may have additional terms, technical requirements, registration periods, transfer rules, contact requirements, dispute procedures, and pricing rules.

For .nl domains, SIDN terms and procedures apply. For generic extensions, ICANN rules, registrar terms, and registry terms may apply.

The customer agrees that SiteServer may pass necessary customer and domain data to registrars, registries, and technical providers for registration, management, renewal, transfer, DNS, abuse handling, and legal obligations.

Costs, renewal, and payment

Domain registrations, transfers, renewals, and premium domains may create costs once an order is submitted to the registrar or registry. A domain order may be executed immediately and cannot always be reversed free of charge afterwards.

Unless agreed otherwise, domains are registered or renewed for the period supported by the registry. The customer must pay on time to allow renewal and active management.

In case of late payment, SiteServer may suspend or not perform a domain renewal. This may lead to expiry, quarantine, recovery costs, or loss of the domain name.

Do not renew and refunds

Because domain orders are often processed automatically and irreversibly by a registry, a submitted registration, transfer, or renewal cannot always be cancelled or refunded.

If the customer does not want to keep a domain after the current registration period, a do-not-renew request must be submitted in time before the renewal date. SiteServer confirms this in writing or through the customer portal once it has been administratively processed.

After processing, the domain normally remains active until the paid expiry or renewal date. This is not an immediate deletion of the domain name.

Statutory rights that cannot be excluded remain unaffected.

Transfers and authorization codes

Transfers may require a valid authorization code, transfer code, or additional registrant approval. The customer is responsible for providing this correctly and on time.

A transfer may fail or be delayed because of an incorrect code, lock status, pending disputes, registry rules, missing data, or refusal by the current registrar.

DNS, nameservers, and reachability

DNS and nameserver changes may affect email, websites, and other services. The customer must check that desired records are complete and correct before changes are made.

DNS changes do not propagate everywhere immediately. Temporary unavailability caused by propagation, incorrect records, or external DNS resolvers cannot be fully prevented.

Use, rights, and disputes

The customer is responsible for choosing and using the domain name. The customer must assess whether the domain name infringes trade names, trademarks, copyrights, public order, morality, or third-party rights.

Complaints, claims, abuse reports, registry requests, orders from competent authorities, and domain disputes are reviewed manually by SiteServer. SiteServer may take measures reasonably needed to comply with law, registry rules, or registrar obligations.

Changes

SiteServer may update these domain registration terms when services, registry rules, registrar terms, law, or operational processes change. The date above shows when this page was last updated.
